She vividly tells that life is that one precious wild thing and states that grief is always personal and distinct from each. The most beautiful line from this book is, “We are all insecure little creatures wrapped up in F21 outfits.”
Kathryn stockket in this book has potrayed how the americans treated the blacks that worked as househelper under them and how the main character who was a white wanted to change it all. The best line quoted from the book by a black, ‘” I was shocked to see that the world didn’t stop even when my boy did.“
If you are a kind of a person who loves description and teeny details then you should try this book. Arthur Golden has talked about Geisha who are women in Japan, who are taught dancing and singing, wear exquisite kimonos and entertain men and people in parties and teahouses.
How geishas live and how their life goes, upturns and the effects of the 2nd world war on them. It’s not fully non-fiction. The best quote from this book, “Sometimes I think that the things that I remember are much more clear than the things that I see.“
Its a simple book. It is. The two main characters, in teens work at a hotel and have desires to do great academically. One of the main character starts comparing her life with the life of their hotel’s guest who had died accidently. Twists and turns keep coming and she realises soemthing huge she has to catch in her life and something she should do.
Why you should read this is how beautifully daily ongoings keep changing but how we try to keep some things intact like habits or friendship.
The most amazing line from this book goes like, “I wonder if there’s a word in your dictionary for when you know the truth but pretend that you don’t.”
It is a Gujarati translated book written by Kundanika Kapadia and tells about how Indian women (focusing on Gujaratis) are just taught to study and look good so they get a good husband. Also how after their marriages their husbands just have more lust for them rather than love. Women just make their schedules as per their husbands and lose their life in theirs.
The worse part is in India when a woman gets pregnant in the last months of pregnancy she is sent to her mother’s house so that she can rest a bit after the baby comes and after some time start ‘working’ af her in laws again. For this the main character says, “If husband’s house is for work, mother’s house is for rest, which exactly is mine?“ At the end change comes.
