We recently learned that WhatsApp was introducing a new user interface for audio and video conversations, as well as the ability to join missed group calls. This was initially restricted to a small group of WhatsApp beta users. However, both of these enhancements are now being rolled out to a larger number of customers.
WhatsApp officially launched joinable calls, a feature that allows users to join group calls even if they have already begun, in a blog post on Monday. If you missed or ignored an incoming group call, WhatsApp now displays a “Tap to join” banner in the Calls tab to allow you to swiftly join it (as long as the call is still going on). Users can also leave and rejoin an ongoing group call, similar to Google Meet and Zoom calls.
Joinable calls and the new calling UI are now available to WhatsApp users. Both of these enhancements are already available in the most recent WhatsApp beta version and will soon be available in the stable version.
