‘Could you find a way to let me down slowly, a little sympathy I hope you can show me.’
Probably most of us know Alec Benjamin because of his song ‘Let me down slowly’ and that was the song that made him recognisable among the public. Alec is an American singer and songwriter.
So Here are 5 songs of Alec Benjamin which are worth to be sinking in:
1. Mind Is a Prison
This song feels so real, so apt that it is difficult to drift from it. As the name suggests, this song talks about the deteriorating mental health of people and how we ultimately find ourselves being a prisoner in our mind’s prison.
Alec Benjamin had told to Genius that how people felt the chorus of this song is about suicide but he never meant it that way. He meant to say that there are many things we try to repair our mind but none of them last long and again we our chained to ours demonish mind.
Alec might have referred to this song to his OCD which he reportedly said to have in one of his interviews. But nevertheless it still hits hard to each of us.
2. Boy In The Bubble
This song’s video talks about being bullied. Even though the victim is being bullied, he still thinks of the person who is bullying him. The victim believes that whatever the bullying person is doing is definitely wrong but that criminal is left with with minimal choice as his own father is a drunkard and hits him so he spills out his frustration by bullying weaker ones.
The song really raises a question whether the person who bullies, had himself faced challenges and has no solution whatsoever to release his anger and hence whether they should be forgiven or taken a revenge of.
3. Must Have Been The Wind
Ever cried or self harmed so loudly that someone else had to ask you what happened and you have just one option to evade that question and tell them things are fine? I think we all have. In this song the singer states that all of us pretend to others that we aren’t lonely and we aren’t sobbing and are peaceful and calm but all this sounds like a lie when someone hears us crying.
The girl in songs says that the voices he heard from her house, ‘must have been the wind’ and he shouldn’t bother. But the singer in the last para states that he is ready to listen to her and help her out when she wishes to share but till them he will too pretend that things are fine in her life.
If you go and watch this video, one of the comments read that ‘wind’ can also be the name of that girl’s cat and although it is not what Alec meant but it is beautiful how just one thing changes the whole meaning of the song.
4. Outrunning Karma
Karma is a fearful thing. Every bad you do may come to you even you are flying in your best sky. Alec in this song talks of a person stating that the person has committed too many wrong things back in life and he can’t run away from karma. It will catch him and push him down. This song really brings chills at each of our personal levels but also asks us to accept reality. Which we do, I suppose.
5. Gotta Be A Reason
In this song Alec narrates a couple of stories of four people stating what bad happened with them and how it has wrecked and somewhere built their life. The song states that there has to be some reason why we are here and we have just got a one time experience on this dear planet. So spending our life finding and accomplishing that reason is a good choice.
I would sincerely like to thank Alec Benjamin with his pastel fashion style, to enrich the music industry with such halycon and amazing songs.
