Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian captain, has expressed interest in a biography based on his illustrious career as a cricketer, Ranbir Kapoor to play the lead role.
Sourav Ganguly stated to News18 that he has accepted to star in a major Bollywood film based on his life.
The former cricketer has reportedly recommended Ranbir Kapoor to play his role in the movie, while there are two other actors also on the list. Sourav Ganguly’s journey from being the Indian captain to the BCCI president will be immortalized in this movie.
Taapsee Pannu will also be seen essaying the role of Indian women’s national cricket team captain Mithali Raj in her biopic ‘Shabaash Mithu’.
Anushka Sharma will also reportedly essay the role of Jhulan Goswami in her biopic, however an official announcement of the same is yet to be made.
Previously, a Bollywood biography of MS Dhoni starring Sushant Singh Rajput was a great hit, while Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Azhar’ was a biopic of former Indian cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin starring Emraan Hashmi.
Another film was set in the world of cricket in 1983. Ranveer Singh plays former captain Kapil Dev in the Kabir Khan film, which is based on India’s 1983 World Cup victory.
This film was supposed to be released in April of last year, but it was postponed due to the pandemic.
