Every single person has a heart of gold which becomes platinum when that gold is polished. And that’s what the duo sibling Isha Jain and Anant Jain have been doing – shredding kindness to help people breathe. They are the founders of Helpnest !!
Isha Jain who has just turned 15 is studying in Modern High School For Girls, Kolkata, and Anant Jain who is only 12 is in St. Xavier’s Collegiate School, Kolkata
When Covid19 had come along in its second wave, things had surely gotten worse. These two tender hearts constantly heard the unbearable, gut-wrenching news of covid patients dying without oxygen, people hunting insanely for hospitals and beds, people breathing their last and it created an indelible mark in their hearts. They felt helpless, thinking what could a 15 and 12-year-old even do? But paths started lighting up and they chased the shine.
Just in April 2021, because of absorbing all the tragedy of covid’s second wave, they decided to establish a nonprofit organization named Helpdesk.
The name’ Helpnest ‘ was Anant’s idea who believed that their main agenda is to help the needy and stated that nest is like a metonymy for shelter and ‘Helpnest’ is a shelter for providing help, comfort, and assistance. Beautiful right?
They collect, verify and update real-time information about the availability of covid beds, availability of oxygen cylinders and concentrators, ambulance, and Covid medicines. The motto was to keep the people informed.
They even helped the covid affected families by delivering them Hygenic vegetarian lunch and dinner taken through outsources.
Their parents were the lighthouse, guiding them through getting the right set of contacts.
They sweetly burned in all their pocket money for aiding the Covid affected.
They distributed steamer vaporizers in Masat Sub center, covering in total eight villages under the Gram Panchayat.
and to the fishermen families at the bank of Mathabhanga Churni River in Nadia district, ‘Anahat ‘, an NGO engaged in the same cause being their distribution partner. They wanted to help the rural people with medical aids who are poorly equipped to fight this pandemic.
To say a ‘Thank you to all the police officers for their relentless service in these trying times, they donated steam vaporizers and hand sanitizers at Lalbazar Police Headquarters, smiling proudly, giving the nation back what has been giving since long.
They have been constantly helping the poor families who have been suffering as a result of lockdowns, migration, and job loss. They have donated dry ration to such underprivileged and helped them with cash and kind donations also. Helpdesk has helped 4 such people procure jobs again.
The NGO itself has also collaborated with Himalayan Stretch (which teaches yoga) to hold up an online free yoga workshop from 22nd June to 25th June because their credence portrayed the fact that yoga will help strengthen people’s immunity and relax the mind in such difficult times.
Now, they are helping people to get vaccinated. Helpdesk has sponsored six people’s vaccination till date The most challenging of all was to comprehend and curb the fear of vaccines among these uneducated people which they had inculcated from the rubbish rumors which have spread around. They got them registered on the cowin app, completed all the formalities, and paid for their vaccines.
Do I have to remind you that they are just 15 and 12 and are trying to be exemplary into how a student and citizen should be 🙂
Balancing between studies and this was a bit tough for both of them, but making a change isn’t easy either and hence they took their leisure break times for this!
This was an entire lookup into the mature minds of Isha and Anant who felt that it was their school and parents who sparkled such lovely values that made them participate in the covid relief efforts:)
Lastly, both of them have asked the nation to come together and help in any damn way. Their NGO is raising funds for their upcoming work and so can we use our pocket money and at least be a builder of the beautiful world they are making!
