We all know that online portals are a very good source for learning new things, but what we do forget is that if something is useful to us, then it is somehow harming us too.
Until 2019, we used these online portals based on our ‘need,’ but now it has become our basic ‘need’ due to the corona outbreak, which is preventing us from receiving proper education.
This online education system is somehow ruining the minds of young children. Do you believe a child can concentrate on studying if he or she cannot even go outside to play to refresh their minds? I guess not. Like us, they also need time to rejuvenate.
Also, it affects their physical health, because if playing games constantly for hours while sticking eyes on the phone is unhealthy and can leave severe effects on one’s health, then taking online classes sitting constantly in front of the screen can too.
The thing is not only about mental and physical health but also about the result. It’s great that schools are taking the initiative to offer online classes to students so they don’t have to miss out, but are the efforts and outcomes consistent?
Like if a teacher is giving his/her 100 percent to teach something, then are students also giving 100 percent to understand or concentrate?
Even if the teachers are giving their 100 percent to teaching via the online classes, every student can’t give their 100 percent to understand everything.
The first reason being that the teacher can just teach, but it’s up to the students if they want to understand it or not. Who knows what a student is actually doing on his/her PC after joining the class? So parents need to keep an eye on their children if they are taking the class attentively or just having a small nap in between.
Secondly, it’s literally impossible to sit in front of a laptop and take classes back to back ‘understanding’ everything. I know it’s easy if we are watching Netflix or any gamer streaming their game, but it’s really difficult to learn something sitting for hours.
It is because when we are doing something exciting, our body releases a hormone known as Dopamine. It is also called a “feel good” hormone. And that is the reason why we feel excited doing something we like.
Third, because the medium of education has changed, education management should change the way they teach in order to be more ‘student friendly’ and help students learn something productive every day.
I know that we don’t have other options available to get a good education right now than attending online classes provided by schools, tuitions, coaching etc. But, what we can do is make our daily routine a little healthy by getting up early, eating healthy and, most importantly, thinking positive because it’s the key to having a strong mind.
Finally, I would just like to say that we are the future and we have to keep our sanity so that we can lead a beautiful future together and for that, we have to fight like a knight in shining armor with every obstacle that will come our way.
