Clubhouse is a social media app that only allows you to communicate via voice and audio. Once you’re in the Clubhouse, you can jump in and out of different chats based on your interests. You can either contribute your thoughts or simply listen in on what’s going on in the various rooms.
For the first year, Clubhouse was only available on iOS. Despite its limited availability, the app amassed 10 million users in its first year.
In a recent fundraiser, the voice-based social network was valued at $4 billion. Last year, the app grew in popularity, and it is now used by a number of high-profile celebrities, investors, politicians, and entrepreneurs.
Clubhouse began developing the Android version of the app earlier this year and began beta testing this month. However, the app was only available to users in the United States. This week, the popular app will be available in more countries, including India.
According to various online reports, Clubhouse decided to expand to the Android platform in order to maintain its growth. In recent months, the app has struggled to maintain its growth rate.
Clubhouse’s Android app currently lacks a number of features. Users, for example, can not follow a topic, create or manage a club, make payments, or connect their social profiles. The company has stated, however, that it is working on bringing the iOS features to the Android version of the app.
By this Friday, the app will be available in India, Brazil, Nigeria, Russia, and Japan. Clubhouse made the official announcement via Twitter, saying, “Android rollout continues! Japan, Brazil & Russia coming Tuesday & India on Friday and rest of world throughout the week, and available worldwide by Friday afternoon.”
